Mapping Community-based Global Health Programs Workshop, July 2012
Maps of health programs serve as tools to support advocacy work, improve data quality, and provide feedback on activities. We believe a discussion of mapping techniques for community-based programs is timely given the increased demand from donors for geo-location data, the limited body of published research currently available around how community-based mapping is conducted, and the unique issues associated with mapping community-based activities.
MEASURE Evaluation, a USAID funded project, is hosting a workshop which will bring together community-based M&E advisors, program officers, and thought leaders working in GIS and community-based delivery of HIV and other health services. At the meeting, participants will discuss how to best apply community-based mapping methods and other operations research questions around the implementation of this relatively new and quickly expanding technical area.
Workshop Objectives
At the workshop, participants will:
- Examine promising practices for mapping community-based programs to support M&E and decision making
- Identify ways resulting maps can be incorporated into existing community-based tools and existing routine health information systems
- Take part in discussion that will inform the creation of a guidance document addressing these two key issues
